SPARC: Students with Positive Attitude and Resonating Communication
The students’ body of DME Media School SPARC: Students with Positive Attitude and Resonating Communication was formally unveiled by Mr Aman Sahni, Vice Chairman and Justice Bhanwar Singh, Director General of DME on September 19 afternoon. This momentwas cherished by 48 Class Representatives of BA JMC along with 9 mentors in the Seminar Hall of DME.
With the vision of boosting the status of student representation and embellishingleadership skills of students, DME Media School has introduced the platform ofSPARC. Wise leadership, impeccable execution and a drive to mobilise govern the objectives of SPARC.
The idea of SPARC was first mooted by Prof. (Dr) Ambrish Saxena, Dean, DME Media School and it was formalised in a meeting with Class Representatives on August 26, 2019. Prof. (Dr) Susmita Bala, HOD, is the Convener and Ms Deepika Dhawan, Assistant Professor, is the Faculty Coordinator of this composite group.
Justice Bhanwar Singh advised the students to treat everyone equally and handle the affairs in the class without any prejudices while ensuring the smooth working of SPARC.
Mr Aman Sahni appreciated the initiative and suggested introducing a leadership lecture series for them in near future for honing leadership skills among the students.
Dr Ambrish Saxena briefed about the objectives of forming SPARC. He also informed about the launch of campaign ‘My Knowledge My Strength’on September 12. In this campaign, each class representative takes one minute every day to communicate meaningful information to the whole class.
Dr Susmita Bala and Ms Deepika Dhawan extended gratitude to everybody for supporting the initiative. Ms Priyanka Naithani, Student Coordinator, SPARC briefed on the working of the committee and the progress so far.
Jashn-e-Hind: Celebration of Democracy at DME
Participants express love for motherland in vibrant competitions
A two-day event-Jashn-e-Hind by Students with Positive Attitude and Resonating Communication (SPARC) Committee of DME Media School was organised to celebrate the two significant landmarks in the historical context of the nation – birth anniversary of NetajiSubhas Chandra Bose and Republic Day of India. The celebrations took place in the Nelson Mandela auditorium and DME amphitheatre on January 23-24, 2020, respectively.
The event included four creative competitions – Just-A-Minute, singing, slogan writing and dancing. Each competition offered a range of spectacular skills and performances from all the enthusiastic participants. Faculty members of DME Media School judged the performance of the students on various scales.
The first round of competitions, Just-A-Minute and Singing contest concluded on the first day. In addition to the competitions, an endearing tribute was paid to India’s great freedom fighter – NetajiSubash Chandra Bose.
The second day’s fun involved slogan writing and a dancing contest which was much enjoyed by the students. The event concluded with a declaration of the winners for each competition.
The winner for Just-A-Minute was Ms Rimjhim. The singing contest saw a tie between winners Mr SiddharthKukreja and Mr Jaskirat Singh, while Mr ShubhamMandal was the winner of the rap category. Mr Siddhant Sharma and Ms MitashaGuglani tied for first place in the dance competition. The winner of best slogan writer was Ms AyushiVerma. All the winners of the event were awarded with attractive prizes.
Dr AmbrishSaxena, Dean, DME Media School and Dr SusmitaBala, Head, DME Media School applauded the efforts of the SPARC Committee which is run by the students and for the studentsincarrying out student welfare activities within the departmentand encouraged them to organise such events in the future also.
