ABOUT US

The Centre for Intellectual Property Rights (CIPR) of Delhi Metropolitan Education aims at supporting academic and policy-oriented dialogue in the individual and intersectional areas of intellectual property (IP) such as Traditional Knowledge, Patents, Trade Marks, Copyright, Trade Secrets, Artificial Intelligence, etc. with Cyber Laws and Competition Law. The Centre will primarily focus on carrying out intensive and extensive research on important contemporary issues in these areas. Some of its research projects would focus on inquiries into core basic areas of IPs, whereas some others would focus on unique questions relating to heavily discussed areas. The center would emphasis on empirical and inter-disciplinary research. The projects that will be undertaken by CIPR will delve into diverse areas such as bio-piracy, the interrelationship and interactions between IP and Cyber Law, and IP and Competition Law, and working requirements of patents.

VISION & MISSION

The center aims at releasing a comprehensive textbook that will cover the diverse topics related to IPR, competition laws and cyber laws. Apart from focusing on its primary research projects, CIPR will undertake numerous initiatives towards fostering discussion and capacity-building. It will conduct workshops, conferences, talks, and courses focusing in the area dealing with the interface of IPR in relationship with, cyber law, and competition law among one another.

SCOPE & TARGETS:

  • The center is in the process of developing comprehensive and high-quality open electronic access to outputs of the projects/ research undertaken by the center.
  • The center aims at releasing a comprehensive textbook that will cover the diverse topics related to IPR, competition laws and cyber laws.
  • Apart from focusing on its primary research projects, CIPR will undertake numerous initiatives towards fostering discussion and capacity-building.
  • It will conduct workshops, conferences, talks, and courses focusing in the area dealing with the interface of IPR in relationship with, cyber law, and competition law among one another.
  • The center also aims at starting diploma courses for IPR.

“Analyzing the effectiveness of available IPR pillars in safeguarding the Traditional Knowledge of indigenous community in India”.
