About the Course

Mass Communication is the study of mass media including all types of medium used to convey information to the audience. Examples of mass media include newspapers, magazines, films, radio, television, etc. The Bachelor of Journalism & Mass Communication (BJMC) course of GGS IPU comprehensively introduces the students to various aspects of Journalism. The three year programme helps equip students with the relevant skills and knowledge set to excel in media and communication sectors. The field of communication requires a skilled and professional approach. This field is a fast growing industry looking for enterprising professionals. The objectives of the course are; to produce scholar graduates with strong academic knowledge and professional skills so they are prepared to join a media related profession and to produce graduates who will contribute positively to society. A professional course in mass communication opens doors for a career in films &TV, publishing, public relations, journalism, editing, direction, film making, script writing, production, etc. In nutshell, Mass Communication widens up the horizon of career options for a person. Attractive careers as journalist, actor, director, editor, screenwriter, RJ, producer, VJ are available to the talented and trained individuals. At Delhi Metropolitan Education, the students of Journalism and Mass Communication are given the freedom needed for propagating innovation and creativity. Over the three years, the students not only gain working knowledge of the media industry, but also begin to excel in particular fields. This is achieved through a strong emphasis on generous guidance from proficient faculty and regular interaction with industry experts. In addition to the academics, students gain many life skills at DME and are presented with a range of opportunities to develop and exhibit these skills. Life at DME is full of activities and BJMC students often lead in organizing and reporting of these activities, such as blood donation camps, University’s annual cultural programme Anugoonj etc. DME also boasts excellent academic infrastructure and various facilities exclusively for BJMC students including modern audio, video, and photo studios.

BA (JMC) 352 Final Project and Comprehensive Viva

Outcomes of the Subject:

Each student will make his/her final project on any one of the disciplines, i.e., Print Media/ Electronic Media (Radio & TV)/ New Media/ Integrated Marketing (Ad, PR & Event)/ Research on the subject/theme approved by the Director/ Principal of the Institute/HoD in the Fifth semester.

The Project Report (in duplicate) both hard & soft copy along with the end product will be submitted by the student at least four weeks prior to the date of commencement of the End-Term Examination of the Sixth Semester. The student will present her/his final product along with a multi-media presentation. The Comprehensive Viva Voce based on the courses of the entire programme and future projections of Media and Entertainment industry.
